Filing is the easy part. We solve the hard parts.

Most firms stop at the return. We start with the problem — and the plan that keeps it from coming back.

Good questions.

What’s the difference between tax preparation and tax planning?

Preparation reports what already happened. Planning changes what happens next — timing income and expenses, choosing the right entity and owner salary, making retirement contributions — before the year ends, when it can still lower your bill. We do both, and planning is where most clients save the most.

How can I avoid common tax mistakes when starting a business?

Keep accurate records from day one, keep personal and business money in separate accounts, and talk to a tax professional before you pick an entity type. Most expensive mistakes happen in the first year, when they are also easiest to prevent.

How should a small business owner prepare for a tax audit?

Organize your records — receipts, invoices, bank statements — and make sure what you filed matches them. Then let us handle the communication with the IRS. As Enrolled Agents we can represent you directly, so you rarely need to speak to an auditor yourself.

Why is it important to track expenses year-round?

Consistent tracking means accurate records, deductions you would otherwise forget, and no surprises in April. It also makes quarterly estimates far easier to get right.

What should solopreneurs know about retirement planning?

Start early. A Solo 401(k) or SEP IRA lets you save for retirement while lowering your taxable income today. Which one fits depends on your income and how much you want to contribute — a good question for your planning meeting.

Do I need to be in California to work with you?

No. We prepare returns for every state and for non-residents, and most clients work with us entirely remotely through our secure client portal.
